9 Dec 2010 ( 4th Day ) Morning Session

1. This morning we learned about Guided inquiry, eg. ask, investigate, create, discuss, reflect. 
    Guided inquiry is student centered, collaborative and problem-based
2. Inquiry-based learning ( IBL ) : teacher must give guidance to the students
3. Borich, G, Hao, Y. ( 2006), Inquiry-based learning:
    A practical application: Teaching strategies that promote thinking:
    Models and curriculum approaches
    is a good book for reference
4. Inquiry-based learning consists of :
    * project-based learning * problem-based learning * case-based learning
5. Project-based learning includes the following attributes:
    * Authentic * Academic rigor * Applied Learning * Active exploration * Assessment practices
6. Problem-based learning consists of :
    * solving problem and acquiring knowledge
    * Students are active in creating problem
7. Case-based learning includes:
    * Develop thinking skills & communication skills
    * Case : for interaction and discussion
    * Basic rules for case-based learning
8. Classroom discussion : "How to use technical tools in PBL & CBL":
    eg. PBworks( Wiki ), Facebook, Bookmark the http://www.delicious.com/ , Blog-writing, youtube
9. 10 steps to produce a portfolio:
    * Establish a personal archive * Clarifying & articulating values & vision * Articulating purposes
    * Listing the elements that form the structure * Selecting evidence from personal archive
    * Develop a concept map * Choosing appropriate software for presentation
    * Writing an intro for each item * Reflecting on elements
    * Reflecting on the portfolio as a whole

     * Daily Group discussion
11. Today i got the essence of learning and gradually adapt to Dr Hao's teaching
